Healthcare reaches the hills: Mega medical camp benefits 200+ in Kishtwar

Kashmir, April 2,2026- In a significant step towards strengthening rural healthcare, a mega medical camp was organized in remote Village Kuchhal in Kishtwar under the 100 Days TB Awareness campaign, benefiting over 200 residents.

The camp focused on screening villagers for anemia and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), ensuring early detection and timely medical intervention. Free medicines, diagnostic tests, and essential healthcare services were provided on the spot, addressing critical health needs in the far-flung area.

The initiative was led by Additional District Development Commissioner Vinod Kumar Behnal, who emphasized the importance of extending healthcare services to remote and underserved populations. Medical teams also conducted awareness sessions, educating locals about TB prevention, nutrition, and lifestyle-related diseases.

Residents appreciated the effort, noting that such outreach programmes significantly improve access to healthcare facilities that are otherwise difficult to reach due to challenging terrain.

The camp marks a vital move in bridging the healthcare gap in hilly regions, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to inclusive and accessible public health services.
