LG Manoj Sinha highlights teachings of Lord Mahavira at Mahavir Janma Kalyanak in Jammu

Jammu, March 31,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday attended the Mahavir Janma Kalyanak celebrations organised by S.S. Jain Sabha in Jammu, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira.

Extending his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the continued relevance of Lord Mahavira’s teachings in today’s world, calling for compassion, peace, and brotherhood amid rising global conflicts.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the principles of Ahimsa (non-violence) and Anekantavada (multiplicity of viewpoints), stressing the importance of right faith, knowledge, and conduct in building a harmonious society.

“Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India stands resolute today. He has laid the foundation for a strong nation that inspires the world with the message that true peace is not weakness but unwavering courage. This is a time to build bridges, not battlefields,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He noted that in times marked by global conflicts and strife, humanity must draw lessons from Lord Mahavira’s philosophy, which promotes enduring peace and unbreakable brotherhood.

“True progress stems from responsibility and accountability to one’s actions. To envision a better future, we must bridge divides among people by fostering trust and understanding diverse cultures, ideas, and experiences,” he added.

The Lieutenant Governor also underlined the significance of introspection and individual transformation, stating that Lord Mahavira’s teachings of discipline, faith, and awareness have the potential to elevate society.

Calling upon the youth to adopt non-violence as a way of life, he said that true Ahimsa goes beyond ethics and can serve as a powerful environmental strategy in an era where nature has long been exploited.

Highlighting the principle of Anekantavada, he stressed the need for intellectual humility in today’s polarized world. “Truth is multifaceted, and no single viewpoint can capture it fully. In the age of echo chambers, questioning one’s own opinion is a mark of supreme wisdom,” he observed.

Describing Lord Mahavira’s legacy as a timeless guide for navigating complexity, the Lieutenant Governor said values such as non-violence, restraint, truth, and non-possession are essential for meaningful nation-building.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also felicitated achievers from various fields.

The event was attended by Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Members of Legislative Assembly Yudhvir Sethi and Arvind Gupta, senior officials, members of S.S. Jain Sabha, and citizens from different walks of life.
