CM Omar Abdullah inaugurates Almond Blossom Festival at Badamwari Garden

Srinagar, March 14,2026- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday inaugurated the Almond Blossom Festival at Badamwari Garden, marking the arrival of spring and the beginning of the region’s vibrant tourism season.

Addressing the gathering at the historic garden in Srinagar, the Chief Minister congratulated the Floriculture Department for successfully organizing the festival and setting up multiple stalls showcasing local culture, crafts, and horticulture.

“On this occasion today, I would like to congratulate the Floriculture Department. Several stalls have been set up here. We are now eagerly awaiting the tourist season,” the Chief Minister said while interacting with visitors and officials.

He also highlighted that the much-awaited opening of the iconic Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is scheduled for the day after tomorrow. The tulip garden, one of Asia’s largest, attracts thousands of tourists every year during the spring bloom.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism that a large number of tourists will visit the Valley this season to experience its natural beauty and cultural heritage. “It is anticipated that people will arrive in large numbers to savour the beauty of Kashmir and return home with cherished memories,” he said.

The Almond Blossom Festival at Badamwari is a key spring event that celebrates the blooming of almond trees, offering a picturesque view of white and pink blossoms. The festival also features cultural performances, traditional food stalls, and exhibitions aimed at promoting tourism and local artisans.

Officials said such festivals play an important role in boosting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir while providing a platform for local artists, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs to showcase their work.

With the onset of spring and the upcoming opening of the tulip garden, the tourism department expects a significant influx of visitors to the Valley, further strengthening the tourism sector and the local economy.
