CM Omar Abdullah launches ₹84.41 Cr projects in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, 24 February 2026 – Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for major development projects worth ₹84.41 crore across Ganderbal Constituency, marking a significant push for infrastructure, healthcare, sanitation, water supply, education, and road connectivity in the district.

The multi-sector projects were inaugurated and e-launched at various locations, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive and balanced development. Key highlights include:

  • Urban Beautification & Development at Beehama: Foundation laid for a ₹770 lakh project under the Housing & Urban Development Department, featuring a grand entry gate, municipal guest house, upgraded MC Terminal into a Smart Library, improved streets and pathways, street lights, garbage bins, murals, and color-coded markets.
  • Road Connectivity Projects: Foundation stone for a ₹750.78 lakh road project connecting Bus Adda to District Hospital, including widening of Mirani Chowk to ease traffic. Additional roadworks across the district costing ₹1,288.40 lakh were also e-laid.
  • Healthcare Upgrades: Inauguration of a CT Scan Machine at District Hospital Ganderbal costing ₹840 lakh, enhancing diagnostic facilities for patients.
  • Water Supply Schemes: e-Inauguration of multiple water supply projects at Urpash Naderbagh (₹679.14 lakh), Buderkund (₹399 lakh), and Manasbal (₹130 lakh) under Jal Shakti Department.
  • Sanitation & Sewage: Foundation stone for a 4.5 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Rakhi Harran costing ₹1,999.20 lakh to improve sanitation and environmental standards.
  • School Infrastructure & Roads: Improvements in schools worth ₹902.69 lakh and upgradation of inner link roads at Treesa Safapora and Kohistan Colony Canal Roads totaling over ₹681.73 lakh.

Speaking during the inauguration, CM Omar Abdullah emphasized that development must translate into tangible improvements in citizens’ daily lives, stating,
“From healthcare and sanitation to roads, schools, and drinking water, these projects reflect our resolve to ensure comprehensive development of Ganderbal. Our focus is not merely on announcements but on timely execution and quality outcomes.”

The Chief Minister also distributed Mission Yuva disbursal letters worth ₹55 lakh to beneficiaries and held a public interaction at Dak Bungalow, Ganderbal, addressing demands related to drinking water, lift irrigation, sports infrastructure, fire services, and school improvements.

The tour was attended by Minister for Health & Medical Education Sakina Itoo, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore, Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir Qazi Sarwar, and senior officers. Minister for Jal Shakti Javed Ahmed Rana participated virtually.
