Gulmarg Winter Games now recognised as National Festival

Gulmarg, February 24,2026- The Gulmarg Winter Games have officially been recognized as a national festival, announced by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha. This move elevates the region’s winter sports event to a prestigious platform, attracting nationwide attention and boosting tourism in the picturesque hill station of Gulmarg.

A Boost for Winter Tourism

Speaking at the announcement, the LG of Jammu & Kashmir highlighted that the elevation of the Gulmarg Winter Games to a national festival status will not only promote sports tourism but also help in the overall development of winter sports infrastructure in the region.

“This recognition will put Gulmarg on the national map as a hub for skiing, snow sports, and adventure tourism,” the LG said, emphasising the potential for both economic growth and youth engagement.
