Kashmir,January 14,2026-In a historic first, a full rake of 21 BCN wagons carrying 1,339 tons of Potash derived from Molasses (PDM) has successfully reached Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
This landmark delivery represents a significant logistics milestone, marking a new era of connectivity, efficiency, and economic integration for the Kashmir Valley. For decades, transporting bulk agricultural inputs like Potash to the region posed logistical challenges due to terrain and infrastructure constraints. The successful arrival of this full rake demonstrates the strengthening of supply chains and the growing capabilities of the region’s transportation network.
Officials highlighted that Potash, a vital fertilizer for agriculture, will play a key role in supporting Kashmir’s farming community, improving crop yields, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The enhanced connectivity between the Valley and mainland India is expected to boost trade, reduce costs, and provide timely delivery of essential commodities to farmers.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hailed the achievement as a step towards “Naya Kashmir, Badalta Kashmir”, reflecting the Union Territory’s ongoing progress in infrastructure, logistics, and economic development.
The arrival of this first-ever full rake underscores the region’s evolving transportation and economic landscape, paving the way for more large-scale supply operations in the future.
With this milestone, Jammu and Kashmir is set to strengthen its position as a more connected and economically vibrant region, benefiting both farmers and businesses alike.
