Srinagar, July 28,2026- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday visited the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, to inquire about the health and well-being of the pilgrims injured in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra road accident at Ganiwan in Ganderbal district.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor met the injured devotees and reviewed the medical treatment being provided by the hospital authorities. He expressed concern over the unfortunate accident and assured the pilgrims and their families that the administration is committed to extending every possible assistance.
Sharing an update on the condition of the injured, LG Manoj Sinha said that, by the grace of Baba Amarnath, all 39 pilgrims admitted to SKIMS on Tuesday morning are in stable condition and are responding well to treatment.
The Lieutenant Governor directed the SKIMS administration and attending medical teams to ensure that the injured pilgrims receive the highest standard of healthcare without any compromise. He emphasised that every necessary medical facility and specialised treatment should be made available to facilitate their speedy recovery.
He also instructed senior officials to provide comprehensive assistance and personal care to the injured devotees during their stay in the hospital. The administration has been asked to closely monitor their condition and ensure that all logistical and support requirements are promptly addressed.
In addition, LG Manoj Sinha directed officials to make suitable arrangements for the safe return of the pilgrims to their hometowns once they are medically fit for discharge. He stressed that their travel and related assistance should be prioritised to ensure a smooth and secure journey home.
The visit reflects the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s continued focus on ensuring the safety, welfare and medical care of pilgrims participating in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, one of the country’s most significant annual pilgrimages.
Authorities reiterated that all necessary support is being extended to the injured pilgrims and their families, while healthcare professionals at SKIMS continue to monitor their recovery closely.
