Kashmir,January 12,2026-India has opened its 2026 space mission calendar with the successful launch of the PSLV-C62 mission, as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) continues to strengthen its space capabilities. The mission was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, in Andhra Pradesh.
The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C62) is carrying an Earth observation satellite, along with 14 co-passenger satellites, into designated orbits. The Earth observation satellite is expected to enhance India’s capabilities in areas such as environmental monitoring, disaster management, agricultural assessment, and urban planning.
ISRO officials stated that the mission demonstrates India’s growing expertise in multi-satellite deployment and its reliability as a global launch service provider. The inclusion of co-passenger satellites highlights the increasing international and commercial interest in India’s cost-effective launch systems.
The PSLV continues to remain ISRO’s workhorse rocket, playing a key role in advancing the country’s space research, technological innovation, and global cooperation in space exploration.
