Kishtwar, 4 November,2025: In a significant step toward rebuilding lives and strengthening rural infrastructure, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha laid the foundation stone for the construction of new houses for flood-affected families of Chishoti, Kishtwar, with the support of HRDS India, a leading civil society organisation.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by Hon’ble Leader of Opposition Shri Sunil Sharma, Swami Atma Nambi, and HRDS India Founder-Secretary Shri Ajit Krishnan, marking what the LG described as “a new beginning of hope, resilience, and inclusive development” for the people of the region.
The project aims to provide safe, durable, and modern housing to families who lost their homes in devastating floods, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to social welfare and sustainable rehabilitation.
During his address, LG Sinha highlighted the government’s holistic approach to empowering remote areas like Paddar and Chishoti, emphasising both humanitarian and developmental priorities.
In a major infrastructure push, the Government of India has also sanctioned an Army Goodwill School for Paddar to ensure quality education for local children. Additionally, a petrol pump will soon be established in the region to improve connectivity and mobility.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) will reconstruct the Atholi–Machail Mata Road, a vital route for locals and pilgrims visiting the famous Machail Mata shrine. The BRO will also construct a new bridge at Chishoti, further improving accessibility to the flood-affected zone.
To enhance digital connectivity, BSNL will set up new 4G mobile towers in the region, ensuring residents are connected to essential services and communication networks.
Speaking on the occasion, LG Manoj Sinha commended the collaborative spirit of HRDS India and other stakeholders for joining hands in rebuilding lives. “Our mission is to ensure that no family is left behind in development. Together, we are building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Kishtwar,” the LG said.
The initiative reflects the administration’s larger vision to create modern, resilient, and self-reliant rural communities in Jammu and Kashmir, backed by strong infrastructure, education, and connectivity.
