Srinagar,October 21,2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid heartfelt tributes to the fallen heroes of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Police Commemoration Day, observed annually on October 21. In a solemn statement, LG Sinha expressed deep respect for the police martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation and gratitude for the personnel tirelessly ensuring the safety and integrity of India’s citizens.“On Police Commemoration Day, we bow our heads in homage to the memory of all police martyrs and gratefully remember those brave police personnel who are selflessly serving to ensure the integrity of the nation and the safety of its citizens,” LG Sinha declared during a commemorative event in Srinagar.The day marks the remembrance of the 10 policemen martyred in 1962 at Lachung La, Ladakh, during the India-China conflict, a sacrifice that continues to inspire the nation. Across Jammu and Kashmir, ceremonies including wreath-laying at martyrs’ memorials and blood donation drives highlighted the police force’s unwavering commitment. A special function at the J&K Police headquarters honored martyrs’ families, reinforcing community support.
LG Sinha emphasised the police’s pivotal role in maintaining peace in the Union Territory, stating, “Their courage fuels our resolve for a secure and prosperous J&K.” His words reflect the gratitude and admiration for the force’s sacrifices amid ongoing challenges.
