SRINAGAR, JULY 28: As part of the Van Mahotsav 2025 celebrations, the Chief Minister visited an exhibition showcasing forest produce and value-added forest products. The event, organized by the Forest Department, highlighted innovative approaches to forest conservation and sustainable livelihood practices.
The Chief Minister took a detailed tour of the stalls, which featured a wide array of eco-friendly products including herbal items, medicinal plants, honey, bamboo crafts, and non-timber forest produce. He commended the Forest Department staff for their dedication in promoting forest conservation, eco-awareness, and sustainable resource management.
“This celebration of Van Mahotsav is not just about planting trees, but about deepening our commitment to nature and empowering communities through green livelihoods,” the CM said, while interacting with self-help groups and local artisans involved in forest-based enterprises.
Officials from the Forest, Wildlife, and Social Forestry divisions briefed the Chief Minister on ongoing afforestation drives, community participation models, and conservation education programs.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of climate resilience, biodiversity preservation, and green economy initiatives in ensuring a healthy environment for future generations.
The event drew participation from students, NGOs, local entrepreneurs, and members of civil society, all contributing to the overarching theme of “Forests for a Sustainable Future.”
