Jammu, July 28 — In an emotional and inspiring gesture, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today met the daughter of Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri, who was martyred in unprovoked Pakistani shelling while serving his duty near the border.
During the meeting, LG Sinha handed over an official assurance letter, affirming that she would be appointed as an Assistant Law Officer in the J&K Government upon completion of her studies.
“Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa’s sacrifice for the nation will never be forgotten. His family will continue to receive every possible support from the government,” said LG Sinha, expressing his deep solidarity with the bereaved family.
Dr. Thapa was known for his integrity, service, and commitment to the people of Rajouri. His tragic loss had left the region grieving. The meeting between LG Sinha and his daughter was marked by quiet strength and reassurance — a powerful symbol of the administration’s unwavering support to the families of martyrs.
Later in the day, the Lieutenant Governor also addressed the inaugural ceremony of ‘Navarambh’ at IIT Jammu, welcoming the new batch of BTech, MTech, and PhD students.
In his address, LG Sinha launched four new academic programs and called upon the students to become pioneers of innovation and nation-building.
“Science and technology will be the backbone of Viksit Bharat. The country is looking to institutions like IIT Jammu to produce future leaders who will shape a strong, self-reliant India,” he said.
The newly launched programs include cutting-edge specialisations designed to align with the goals of Digital India, Startup India, and the National Education Policy (NEP). Faculty, students, and guests applauded the progressive vision outlined by LG Sinha.
The day was a blend of solemnity and hope — honouring sacrifice while investing in the future of India’s brightest minds.
