Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, May 21, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Brigade Headquarters in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, to meet Indian Army soldiers and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, reinforcing support for security forces amid escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC). The visit, held at the Shakti Vijay Brigade Headquarters, focused on boosting troop morale and assessing the security situation in the wake of recent cross-border skirmishes.
During the visit, LG Sinha was briefed on Operation Sindoor, India’s strategic response to the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. He praised the Indian Army and BSF for their bravery and commitment to countering terrorism and securing the volatile Poonch and Rajouri border districts. The region has faced intensified Pakistani shelling and ceasefire violations following India’s retaliatory operation, resulting in significant civilian impact, including 15 deaths and 43 injuries in Poonch and Tangdhar.
Sinha interacted with soldiers, acknowledging their role in safeguarding national security under challenging conditions. He also reviewed relief efforts for civilians affected by the shelling, with the Poonch district administration’s Report to Support initiative ensuring aid delivery through village-level committees. The Indian Army’s bomb disposal squad recently neutralized a live Pakistani shell in a Poonch village, preventing potential harm, while the BSF foiled an infiltration attempt by seven Jaish-e-Mohammad operatives in Samba.
The Lieutenant Governor’s visit underscores the administration’s focus on strengthening security measures and supporting frontline forces in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Poonch, a key area prone to cross-border hostilities.
