Div Com Kashmir reviews arrangements for Mahashivratri and holy month of Ramadan

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 24: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, conducted a detailed review of the arrangements for the upcoming Mahashivratri celebrations and the observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

During the meeting, the Div Com focused on ensuring the availability of essential items in the market, such as flowers, walnuts, fish, and lotus stems, which are significant for the Mahashivratri celebrations, particularly for the Kashmiri Pandit community. He also instructed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity and water to the Pandit colonies and key temples, while also reviewing security and transport arrangements for smooth and peaceful celebrations.

As part of the preparations for the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Div Com emphasized facilitating the public throughout the month of fasting. He directed the Chief Engineer of KPDCL to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during peak hours of Sehri and Iftari. Additionally, he instructed the PHE Department to ensure a regular water supply and arrange tankers for areas where there may be shortages.

In terms of market availability, the Div Com directed concerned authorities to ensure adequate supplies of quality meat and poultry, and asked Deputy Commissioners to carry out extensive market checks to maintain the quality of essential items. He also called for sanitation drives at prominent mosques and shrines to ensure clean and hygienic environments.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of SMC, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and various divisional and district officers from departments including PDD, R&B, PHE, Transport, FCS&CA, as well as officials from the Traffic Police.
