Jammu & Kashmir LG Shri Manoj Sinha, delivered a speech that highlighted the significance of voter participation and the strength of India’s democratic process. He began by congratulating Jammu and Kashmir for receiving the “Best Performing State/UT Award” from the Election Commission, recognising the state’s success in conducting free, fair, and transparent elections. He praised the high voter turnout, especially among youth, women, differently-abled individuals, and senior citizens, as a sign of growing civic engagement. LG Shri Manoj Sinha emphasised the transparency of the elections, noting there were no instances of repolling and no disruptions, which reflected the public’s trust in the process. He also reflected on India’s deep-rooted democratic values, which have existed since ancient times, highlighting the role of the Election Commission in ensuring a fair and inclusive election process. The theme for this year’s National Voters’ Day, “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,” was a call for greater voter awareness and inclusivity. Shri Sinha stressed that voting transcends barriers such as caste, religion, and physical ability and is essential for empowering citizens. He concluded by praising the cultural programs, particularly those by differently-abled children, as a symbol of the universal importance of voting. In essence, the speech reminded everyone that every vote plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the nation, and that a strong democracy depends on active and inclusive participation from all citizens.
