International Literacy Day is celebrated each year on September 8 across the world. Azam Manzoor, a student of Government Boys Higher Secondary School in, Charishareef Budgam in Jammu & Kashmir says, this day is being celebrated since 1967. The purpose of highlighting literacy is to make the uneducated around us aware of its importance and how the lack of literacy brings huge drawbacks in life. Shamshad Ahmed a, student citing the Right to Education Act 2009, Says, all children between the age groups of 7 to 14 years have the right to free education. The International Literacy Day theme in 2022 is ‘Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces’. School teacher Mir Rashid Mustaq says, India is a developing country. To reach the ranks of a developed country, India needs to be literate. Education and training are needed to take the country forward.

We have to think about the progress of our community and with right structuring of education and training, our children and the community can advance, said the school teacher.
