Srinagar Municipal Corporation Prioritises Swift Clearance of 1400km Roads Amid Snowfall Challenges Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) handles 1400 km roads, said the Commissioner SMC. Two-three main roads related to snowfall fall in this category. Their clearance is top priority. On second number is the walkways which needs clearance manually. On third number is the snow removing stations. We have 127 pumps which are moveable and can be used. In every Ward we have Ward officers whom we have deployed snow clearing vehicles. Our roads are divided priority wise. Hospitals, important institutions and main roads come under priority number one. Subsequently, the other roads are covered. We have machinery to deploy on roads at one time. We try to see that the roads are not closed even for a minimal time especially on those roads on which traffic plies. All the workers and officers are working hard since early morning to clear the roads of snow, said the Commissioner. This process goes on throughout the day till the snow keeps falling.
