Jammu, January 18, 2026:Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today attended the 7th Annual Day Celebration of the Guidance & Career Counselling Cell for Youth Development (GCC), Gurha Slathia, held in Samba, and called upon the youth to dream big, aim high, and pursue their goals with full courage and unshakable resolve.
Addressing a large gathering of youth, the Lieutenant Governor said that the future belongs to those who dare to challenge limits and believe in their own potential. “Your future is waiting for you. Take a pledge to build a brighter Jammu and Kashmir and work with dedication. History remembers those who conquered fear and turned the impossible into reality,” he said.
Emphasising the pivotal role of young people in shaping society, the LG observed that youth are not merely the hope of tomorrow, but the greatest power of today. He urged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to dream big for the Union Territory and the nation, stating that a developed society is built through hard work, patience, innovation, and unwavering courage.
“History teaches us that those who changed the world did not rely on extraordinary circumstances, but on extraordinary thinking,” the Lieutenant Governor said, adding that youth who take small but consistent steps toward their dreams will one day lead transformative change.
He further noted that only those who truly believe in themselves go on to create history, and encouraged young people to trust their abilities and remain focused on long-term goals.
Highlighting the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship, the Lieutenant Governor said these are key drivers of societal progress and economic empowerment. He called upon the youth of J&K to embrace fresh ideas, solve local problems, and create opportunities for self-employment to strengthen the regional economy.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated the commitment of the Government of India and the UT Administration towards the rehabilitation of families affected by recent natural calamities. He informed that, on the request of the UT Administration, the Government of India has approved an allocation of Rs 1,437 crore for reconstruction of damaged public infrastructure and implementation of disaster mitigation measures across Jammu and Kashmir.
He said damaged railway bridges would be restored within three months, while restoration of flood-damaged national highway stretches would be completed within four months.
Responding to a demand raised by the MLA Samba regarding the construction of a railway over-bridge in Samba, the Lieutenant Governor assured that the matter would be taken up with railway authorities for early resolution. He also suggested the development of a local pond with the support of youth volunteers and social organisations.
The Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to Radha Soami Satsang Beas and High-Range Rural Development Society (HRDS) India for their selfless service, and commended GCC Gurha Slathia for its dedicated efforts in youth guidance and empowerment.
During his visit, the LG also reviewed the progress of the auditorium and upgradation works at Government Higher Secondary School, Gurha Slathia, and directed officials to ensure proper sanitation and sports facilities.
The event was attended by Shri Surjit Singh Slathia, MLA Samba; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Shri Shakti Pathak, Director ACB; Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range; Ms Ayushi Sudan, Deputy Commissioner Samba, senior officials, GCC members, and a large number of youth.
Maj Gen (Retd.) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal and several prominent personalities from diverse fields were also present.
