Wular Lake Festival to draw tourists to Asia’s largest freshwater lake

Dr Owais, Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora in Jammu & Kashmir organised a grand Wular Lake Festival and the 3-day event from 27-29 August, 2022 was planned in synergy and coordination with the administration, tourism department and other divisions. The motive, the DC said, was to make Wular a tourist destination and place it on the tourist map.

Wular is Asia’s largest sweet water lake, said Divisional Commissioner Kashmir PK Bole. The place needs to be promoted. Wular Lake is rich in bio diversity and natural varieties. The beauty of Wular Lake was showcased through cultural celebration. The department of Tourism and the Army helped in organising the Wular event in which many Kashmiri folks participated. Social Activist Fayaz Ahmad said, now people will come to know about Wular which is Asia’s largest sweet water lake and how the lake drives the economy of people residing in the areas nearby the lake.

Anwar Ahmad Khan Sarpanch of the area said that he is grateful to the administration for starting the Wular Lake Festival which will boost people’s growth and tourism of Wular region.
