Wildlife department Kishtwar marks world wildlife day with awareness programme

Kishtwar, March 4,2026- On the occasion of World Wildlife Day, the Wildlife Department Kishtwar organised an awareness programme highlighting the importance of wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection in the region.

The programme witnessed participation from officials, environmentalists, students and members of the local community. Speakers stressed the urgent need to preserve Kishtwar’s rich natural heritage, which is home to diverse flora and fauna, including several rare and endangered species.

Officials underscored that illegal hunting and poaching pose serious threats to wildlife and ecological balance. Citizens were urged to refrain from such activities and actively support conservation initiatives. Participants were also sensitised about the significance of maintaining biodiversity for sustainable development and environmental stability.

Kishtwar district, known for its vast forest cover and pristine landscapes, plays a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of the Union Territory. The department reiterated its commitment to strengthening wildlife protection measures and enhancing community participation in safeguarding natural resources.

The event concluded with a pledge by attendees to protect wildlife and promote awareness about biodiversity conservation across the district.
