From a village near the Line of Control in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, Tilak Raj has emerged as a powerful example of courage, determination, and resilience. After a road accident left him wheelchair-bound due to a spinal cord injury, he refused to let his disability limit his dreams. At the age of 45, Tilak Raj recently completed an extraordinary journey of nearly 2,200 kilometres in just 11 days, driving the vehicle himself. His route covered Rajouri, Srinagar, the Kargil War Memorial, Leh and Khardung La, before returning through the Atal Tunnel, Manali and Dharamshala to Rajouri. He also undertook an “Operation Sindoor Yatra,” visiting major Shakti Peeths and other religious and historic sites across Himachal Pradesh and Jammu, dedicating the journey to the Indian Army and the spirit of national service. Tilak Raj’s journey is much more than a road trip. It is a message that disability should never become a barrier to dignity, independence, adventure, or nation-building. His determination demonstrates the power of self-belief and accessible opportunities. His story continues to inspire people to overcome limitations, challenge stereotypes, and move forward with confidence.
