What the poor girls are saying about Shopian’s first Shelter Home, Children Care Institute for Girls

The first ‘Children Care Institute for Girls’ was inaugurated in Shopian in June 2022. The Government of J&K Department of Social Welfare commenced a programme DISHA courtesy District Child Protection Officer Shopian. Mr Showkat Ahmad Showkat, District Social Welfare Officer Shopian says, DISHA is a designated legislative legal body and we help children by assisting in the formalities before giving them admission in this home. This is the first shelter home for girls under Mission Vatsalya in South Kashmir. We keep girls who are poor. Their education expenses are born by us. Enrolled girls are provided free education, medical and hostel facilities. We have full time Superintendent, Counselor, Medical Assistant to look after the girls and we provide every type of assistance to girls. A District Library is also set up in the same lawn. The institute is open for general public as well as girls enrolled there. The girls are happy that their education expense is being taken care of, they are being provided free food and clean beds. The girls do not have to bring a single item from their home, everything is provided by the institute.
