Weekly Block diwas held at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, JULY 10: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, held the weekly Block diwas cum grievance redressal camp at Block head quarter Kallar, Udhampur.
The event saw the participation of Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, IAS Probationer Swati Sheemar, DDC member Puran Chand, Assistant Commissioner Development Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, and other senior officers, Former BDC Chairman Balwan Singh, ex-PRI members, and the general public from adjoining panchayats also attended the program.
During the camp, several issues and demands were raised by the ex PRIs and local people which included Recruitment of village defence guards,
Addressing unscheduled power cuts, Maintenance of the Battal Ballian to Domail road, Early completion of the community hall, Blacktopping of various roads, Renewal of contractor licenses, Establishment of a park for children, Installation of solar lights and repairing street lights, Improvement of dilapidated roads, Installation of a transformer at Upper Malhar, Addressing water logging in front of the BDO office, Resolving scarcity of drinking water, Settling pending material liabilities under MGNREGA, Construction of link roads etc.
Experts from various departments informed the public about government schemes and encouraged them to avail themselves of the benefits.
In response to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner assured the PRIs and local people that their genuine issues would be addressed promptly. She directed the officers to work in coordination to ensure equitable development across all panchayats in the block. The DC also instructed the concerned officers to prioritize and resolve the public’s genuine demands and submit detailed reports on pending issues to be projected to higher authorities for consideration.
She added that the main objective of conducting Block Diwas is to resolve everyday public issues and implement centrally sponsored schemes at the ground level. Following the conclusion of Block Diwas, the SDRF team sensitized the public about precautionary measures during flash floods and other natural calamities.
