Kashmir , December 24,2025-The Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025 is being hailed as a landmark step in the transformation of India’s rural employment framework, aimed at strengthening livelihood security and inclusive growth in rural areas.
The Bill significantly enhances the statutory wage employment guarantee, increasing assured workdays from the existing provision to 125 days per financial year for rural households. This move is expected to provide greater income stability to millions of families dependent on wage employment in rural India.
The proposed legislation focuses on expanding employment opportunities, reducing seasonal distress migration, and reinforcing rural livelihoods through sustained wage support. By extending guaranteed employment days, the Act seeks to address rural unemployment and underemployment while boosting purchasing power at the grassroots level.
Policy experts believe the enhanced guarantee aligns with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat, emphasising social security, economic resilience, and equitable development. The mission also aims to strengthen rural infrastructure, improve skill utilisation, and ensure timely wage payments through transparent and accountable mechanisms.
The Bill is expected to have a far-reaching impact on poverty reduction, women’s participation in the workforce, and the overall rural economy. Once implemented, it will further consolidate the government’s commitment to inclusive development and employment-led growth in villages across the country.
