Jammu, January 5,2026-Union Minister Manohar Lal visited Jammu and Kashmir to review key hydroelectric projects, focusing on operational efficiency and sustainable development initiatives. During his visit, the Minister inspected NHPC’s Salal Power Project and was briefed on ongoing works at the facility.
Highlighting the importance of timely project execution, the Union Minister directed NHPC officials to expedite the sediment removal operations of the Salal reservoir, ensuring optimal reservoir capacity and uninterrupted power generation.
As part of his visit, the Minister also undertook a plantation drive within the Salal Power Station premises. This initiative reinforces the Government’s commitment to environmental conservation, sustainable development, and green energy practices.
Officials present during the visit emphasized that the hydroelectric projects in Jammu and Kashmir not only contribute significantly to the region’s power supply but also play a vital role in supporting economic growth and employment generation.
Union Minister Manohar Lal reiterated the Government’s focus on modernizing infrastructure, implementing efficient project management, and promoting eco-friendly measures alongside development activities in the Union Territory.
