Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chairs security review meeting in Srinagar

Srinagar, April 24, 2025: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar on Wednesday, addressing the heightened security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir following the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack. The meeting, attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, General Officer Commanding of the Army’s 15 Corps, and senior officials from intelligence agencies, focused on strengthening the region’s security framework.

The discussions centered on intensifying anti-terror operations, enhancing coordination among security forces, and bolstering intelligence networks to prevent future attacks. Mohan reviewed the ongoing search operations in Pahalgam, where security forces are actively pursuing the perpetrators of the attack that killed at least 16 tourists, including two foreigners, and injured several others. The Home Secretary emphasized the need for a robust response to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure public safety, aligning with the central government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.

The meeting also assessed the implementation of advanced surveillance measures and the security grid around key infrastructure projects, following directives from Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to Srinagar. Mohan’s visit, his third security review in Jammu and Kashmir since taking office, underscores the Ministry of Home Affairs’ commitment to restoring peace in the Union Territory amidst a surge in tourist arrivals and upcoming events like the Amarnath Yatra.
