Transformation in Shopian | J&K Government’s Electrification Scheme Illuminates Lives We have not seen wires, poles, transformer since our birth in Shopian. We got a lot of relief with the government scheme getting implemented. The transformer power is installed, we are getting electricity. Electricity is coming to every village and house. Children are able to study. We are grateful to the government of India and the electricity department. Another youth said that in his 25-26 years of life he had not seen electricity. We used to burn kerosene and wood to get light. Our children therefore were not able to study. We got backwards because of that. Today, with the help of the government, we are able to study and whatever our issues were there are getting resolved. If the transformer gets burnt, it gets repaired quickly. We are very grateful to the government and the concerned departments for giving power in each home, said residents in Shopian.
