SVEEP programme engages & educates Voters at Shopian

SHOPIAN, AUGUST 07: Under the aegis of the ‘Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme’, a comprehensive voter awareness event was today organized at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Heerpora, Shopian.
The programme, aimed to educate the public about the electoral process and promote active voter participation was supervised by Deputy District Election Officer, Shopian, Jahangir Ahmed.
It featured a variety of activities to engage the participants, including a cricket match and a badminton match, making the event both informative and enjoyable. A large gathering of teachers, students, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and other officials enthusiastically took part in the activities.
Participants were provided with fundamental knowledge about the electoral process, the constitutional value of voting, and the importance of voter registration and participation.
Experts in the field conducted discussions, providing valuable insights and answering questions from the audience. To reinforce the key points, informational pamphlets and brochures were distributed. Students were encouraged to pledge to cast their votes in the upcoming elections, symbolizing their commitment to active citizenship.
Interactive sessions, including mock voting exercises, gave participants a practical understanding of the voting process. BLOs shared their experiences and emphasized the importance of thorough and inclusive voter registration drives, ensuring that no voter is left behind during the ongoing SSR.
Campus ambassadors also contributed by posting video messages on social media, attracting new voters to the ongoing enrollment drive.
These efforts are designed to create a ripple effect, fostering a culture of informed and active participation in the electoral process.
The event concluded successfully, with participants expressing their enthusiasm and commitment to becoming active participants in the democratic process. The positive response from the attendees highlighted the effectiveness of combining educational activities with interactive and engaging events.
