Srinagar records -2.4°C, Shopian coldest at -4.2°C in J&K

Srinagar, December 8, 2025: The temperatures across Jammu & Kashmir plunged to freezing levels today, with Srinagar recording -2.4°C, Bandipora at -2.2°C, and Shopian emerging as the coldest town at -4.2°C.

Meteorological officials reported that dense fog and cold waves are affecting most parts of the Kashmir Valley, with locals advised to take precautions against the dropping mercury. Early morning frost and chilly winds have been reported, impacting daily life and agriculture activities in several areas.

Authorities have also urged residents to ensure adequate heating, wear warm clothing, and take special care of elderly people and children during this cold spell. The weather is expected to remain cold over the next few days, with potential for further temperature dips in higher-altitude regions.
