Sports should be treated like a core subject, J&K LG Manoj Sinha at Chancellor’s Trophy 2023 event

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha said that sports is not just an extracurricular activity. In schools, colleges and universities, like math, science or social science it should be treated like a core subject. He said this at the Chancellor’s Trophy 2023 event which was held on March 15-17, 2023 in Jammu and Kashmir. Sports is that medium that gives our youth confidence and sets new goals for them. It also paves the way to achieve those goals. Today’s students need to be encouraged, the LG conveyed to the colleagues and teachers. If you want to read a book for encouragement, then read Bhagavad Gita, LG stated. He said our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given us a big gift. Today, a physics topper can think of becoming a lawn tennis champion. A student competing in a 100 metre race if he wants to become an engineer, then he will be provided that opportunity. The National Education Policy has given us that opportunity. Fragmentation is being ended giving way to promotion of a multi-disciplinary system. Arrangements have been made for students which can fulfil their dreams. Fit India campaign is not merely a slogan, it is a way to reach a new height of progress for the youth. Fit India, Khelo India, National Education Policy, Innovation and Opportunities for StartUps, all these are being done for the better future of the youth. This is being done so that they do not come out of the college with just a degree but they also acquire the personality of a warrior who with their own individuality and independent thinking can help build the future of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation.
