Udhampur, June 19,2026- The spirit of devotion, selfless service, and community harmony was on full display across Udhampur as devotees gathered to commemorate the Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru and the first Sikh martyr.
Special prayer meetings were held at various Gurudwaras, where devotees paid homage to Guru Arjan Dev Ji and reflected on his teachings of compassion, humility, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. Religious discourses highlighted the Guru’s immense contribution to Sikhism and his enduring message of peace and service to humanity.
As part of the observance, several chabeels (free refreshment stalls) were organised across the district, serving sweetened water and refreshments to passersby in the true spirit of sewa (selfless service). Volunteers, including youth and community members, actively participated in the arrangements, demonstrating the values of generosity and social responsibility.
The occasion witnessed enthusiastic participation from people of all age groups, who came together to honour the Guru’s supreme sacrifice and uphold the traditions of communal harmony and brotherhood. The atmosphere at Gurudwaras was marked by prayers, kirtans, and acts of service dedicated to the welfare of society.
Community leaders noted that Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s teachings continue to inspire millions and remain relevant in promoting peace, unity, and compassion in contemporary society. They emphasized the importance of preserving these values and passing them on to future generations.
