Sopore police attach ₹1.23 crore worth assets of alleged drug peddler in major anti-narcotics action

Sopore, July 14,2026- Continuing its intensified crackdown on the narcotics network, Sopore Police have attached immovable property worth approximately ₹1.23 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The attached property includes a residential house and land identified as illegally acquired through proceeds generated from drug trafficking. The action was carried out after a detailed financial investigation established a direct link between the assets and alleged illicit narcotics activities.

Police officials said the attachment was executed in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act, which empowers authorities to identify and seize properties derived from the proceeds of drug-related offences. The move is aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure supporting the illegal drug trade and deterring those involved in narcotics trafficking.

Sopore Police reiterated their commitment to combating the drug menace and stated that strict legal action would continue against individuals engaged in the illegal narcotics business. Officials also appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any information related to drug peddling in their localities.

The latest action forms part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign across Jammu & Kashmir, where law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to curb narcotics trafficking by targeting both offenders and their illegally acquired assets.
