KATRA, FEBRUARY 15: The Convocation Ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) witnessed an inspiring address by J&K Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. During the ceremony, he expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, for his blessings to the graduating students at the university’s 10th Convocation. The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that this momentous occasion would remain etched in the memories of the students for a lifetime.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor urged the youth to actively contribute to the country’s development and play a pivotal role in making India the largest economy in the world. He stated, “The strength of our nation will be determined by its values, innovation, and knowledge. I firmly believe that the young men and women graduating in this Amrit Kaal will shape the destiny of our nation. Those stepping out today into the real world have a unique opportunity for nation-building.”
Shri Manoj Sinha highlighted that the advancements in humanities, arts, science, and technology have opened new avenues for opportunities. He further stated that the knowledge and skills of the graduating students would be instrumental in achieving success in these fields. He also called on the youth to utilize their talents to transform rural areas, urging them to stay dedicated, determined, and rooted in India’s rich cultural heritage, while having faith in their abilities and wisdom.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of ensuring that skills and knowledge contribute to improving the lives of people. He also emphasized the need for a fresh approach to the teaching-mentoring system to harness future opportunities in science and technology, with a direct bearing on the nation’s journey towards
becoming Viksit Bharat
He further addressed the teaching community, urging educators to focus on unlocking the full potential of students and transform educational institutions into powerful tools for building a prosperous India. “Teachers must initiate innovative educational programs that foster curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation. Sharing their life experiences with students will inspire lifelong learning skills that will shape the future,” he remarked.
The Lieutenant Governor extended his best wishes for a productive and bright future to all graduating students. He also congratulated the female students for outperforming their male counterparts in the medal tally, as well as excelling in the Certificate of Distinction and the Infosys Foundation Prize.
In a special recognition, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University conferred Honoris Causa degrees on renowned writer and historian Padma Shri Pt. Shiv Dutt Nirmohi and Dr. Ram Sewak Sharma, former CEO of the National Health Authority.
Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony were Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, wife of Hon’ble Vice President, Shri Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister, Ms. Sakina Itoo, Minister for Higher Education, Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament, Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, and other esteemed guests including Vice-Chancellors of various universities, Heads of Departments, and senior officials of the civil and police administration, along with faculty members, students, and their families.
