With the installation of Smart Metres in Jammu, the readings will automatically register in the office. Now it eradicates the middleman’s role who used to go to houses to note the readings and also end the thief marketing related to these metres. They used to ask for Rs 100-Rs 200 to get the metre going. So this is a good step by the government. The metre readers used to write more or less readings than the actual readings showing on the metre. Now the consumers can see on their mobile phones the actual readings and the amount of electricity being consumed on a daily basis. This installation of smart metres helps us and the government too. The locals are happy that the government is doing projects for the benefit of the public.
