JAMMU, DECEMBER 10: Mohammad Aijaz Asad, Secretary of the Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR), conducted surprise inspections in the Bishnah and Arnia blocks to evaluate the administrative functioning and progress of ongoing development projects.
During the inspections, the Secretary found three Panchayat Account Assistants from Bishnah and one from Arnia in violation of government instructions. These employees were attached in breach of standing orders. Additionally, several ministerial staff members were found to be deployed in offices outside the Rural Development Department, without the approval of the competent authority.
Taking immediate action, the Secretary directed block officials to recall all staff members deployed irregularly to their original places of posting. He expressed concern over these violations and emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to government guidelines to maintain transparency and efficiency in rural administration. He further warned against any future deviations from established protocols.
While reviewing the progress of various development projects in the Bishnah and Arnia blocks, Aijaz Asad stressed the need for the timely completion of works, ensuring they meet their deadlines and maintain high standards. He also highlighted the importance of improving sanitation facilities in both blocks.
The Secretary also visited Panchayat Changia to inspect the ongoing construction of a Badminton Court under the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) and the Capex Budget. During the visit, local ex-Sarpanchs, players, and prominent citizens urged the Secretary to expedite the completion of the indoor stadium and requested the installation of floodlights and polyvinyl flooring to make the facility operational at night.
Assuring full support, Aijaz Asad directed block officials to complete the project within two months and ensure it meets the required specifications.
The Secretary was accompanied by Additional Secretary RDD&PR, Waseem Raja, and other senior officials during the inspections.
