SARAS Mela 2026: Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs in Srinagar

Srinagar is witnessing a vibrant celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage, traditional craftsmanship and regional cuisines with the ongoing SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2026. Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), UMEED, under the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, the ten-day exhibition brings together more than 200 women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Group (SHG) members from 17 states and Union Territories. Around 70–80 stalls have been set up at the exhibition, showcasing an impressive range of traditional handicrafts, handloom products, organic goods and popular regional delicacies. The mela provides rural women entrepreneurs and artisans with an important platform to display and market their products, expand their customer base and explore new business opportunities. Through the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, women from rural and economically weaker backgrounds are being encouraged to develop skills, establish income-generating enterprises and achieve financial independence. The exhibition not only promotes women’s economic empowerment but also strengthens cultural exchange and provides a glimpse into India’s diverse traditions. SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2026 stands as an important initiative towards promoting rural entrepreneurship, self-reliance and women’s empowerment.
