Relief for J&K: First Local Train from Katra to Sangaldan Brings Hope Amid Highway Blockage On the demand of State Administration, the Railway Board has started a passengers’ local train with five bogies from Katra to Sangaldan in Jammu & Kashmir. For five days, the local train will run at 8:40 am from Katra to Sangaldan, stopping in betwwen at each station. Today was the first trip of the local train. Around 400 passengers travelled on the train and seemed happy about the public transportaion service. The local train service has come at the right time. A passenger said the National Highway is blocked due to heavy mud slide around Udhampur. The passengers said they were grateful to the Northern Railway and the Government of India for giving them this facility. They further requested the Government to increase the service up to Srinagar or Banihal to facilitate more passengers. A man in Reasi said he was caught there for eight days as he had to go to Srinagar but the roads were blocked. Now with the train moving, the people will be able to go to their respective destinations, said the man thanking PM Modi and the government.
