The event, featuring a 750-meter-long Tricolour, symbolized national pride and unity as participants marched across the engineering marvel spanning the Chenab River.Celebration of National Pride
The rally saw enthusiastic participation from locals, students, officials, and security personnel, who collectively hoisted the massive Tricolour, chanting patriotic slogans such as “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” The event was held on the 1,315-meter-long Chenab Bridge, which stands 359 meters above the riverbed, connecting Bakkal and Kauri in Reasi district. Reasi Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan told ANI, “We wanted to present our pride and respect for our country. This Tricolour was made by the locals in just two days to showcase our love for the nation on the world’s highest railway bridge.”
Engineering Marvel as a Backdrop
The Chenab Bridge, part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, is a testament to India’s engineering prowess. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, 2025, the bridge is designed to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8 and high-intensity blasts, ensuring seamless rail connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of India. The rally’s setting on this iconic structure amplified its significance, highlighting both national pride and infrastructural achievement.
Part of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign
The Tiranga rally aligns with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, encouraging citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes ahead of Independence Day. The event in Reasi echoed similar patriotic initiatives across India, including a 600-foot-long Tricolour march in Seppa, Arunachal Pradesh, which Prime Minister Modi praised for its enthusiasm, stating on X, “Arunachal Pradesh is a land where patriotism is deeply rooted… Glad to see such enthusiasm towards #HarGharTiranga.”
Security and Community Engagement
The rally was conducted under tight security, with police personnel ensuring the safety of participants throughout the march. The event also fostered community engagement, with locals coming together to craft the 750-meter-long Tricolour in just two days, reflecting their dedication to the nation. The rally not only celebrated India’s freedom struggle but also underscored the region’s commitment to unity and progress.
A Symbol of Unity and Progress
The Tiranga rally near the Chenab Bridge serves as a powerful symbol of India’s unity and its strides in infrastructure development. As Reasi continues to gain prominence with the operationalization of the Chenab Bridge, such events highlight the region’s growing role in national integration and its residents’ deep-rooted patriotism.
