Rajouri empowers women through 3-month Gojri Topi craft training

Rajouri, March 5,2026 – In a bid to promote livelihood opportunities and preserve local handicrafts, the District Administration of Rajouri, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Handloom & Handicrafts, is set to launch a 3-month Gojri Topi Making Training Programme.

The initiative, organised under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, aims to empower women and youth by providing them with practical skills in traditional Gojri topi craftsmanship — a cultural hallmark of the region. Participants will receive hands-on training in weaving, stitching, and designing, enabling them to create market-ready products and generate sustainable income.

Officials said the programme is designed not only to enhance skill development but also to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Rajouri’s handicrafts. It reflects the administration’s commitment to women empowerment, entrepreneurship, and promotion of indigenous arts.

The training will be open to local residents, with priority given to women and underprivileged youth, aligning with the broader objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, which focuses on gender equality, education, and economic empowerment.
