Pulwama woman applies for Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, starts earning from her dairy farm

I worked as a teacher for many years. Then after marriage I thought why not establish something so that I can provide jobs to others and also earn my name. Then I started thinking which sector should I enter. My husband was interested in dairy farming. He was more interested in this sector, so he inspired me to set up a dairy farm. I agreed as I wanted to establish something that will benefit me as well as others around me, said Nilofar Jaan from Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir. First of all, I visited a Veterinary doctor around my area who gave us a lot of information regarding this dairy farming business and the health of cows. He told us to apply for a Dairy Farming unit and after two months the form was issued. The Veterinary Doctor confirmed that a lady from Pulwama came to him. Her name is Nilofar Jaan. She is a Post Graduate but unemployed. I told her to apply for the Dairy Farming scheme which will benefit her a lot. She applied for 7 units or 14 cows. Then she said I will bring 10 cows in the first installment. Then we gave her subsidy of Rs 4.50 lakh as part of Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS). Her dairy farm is fully functional. Her daily yield is 120 Litres milk per day. This is how she is earning profits. Nilofar Jaan has kept two helpers to assist in her dairy farm unit. Their household expenses are met through the work they carry out in the dairy farm. Our message through Nilofar Jaan’s dairy farm success is to get associated and start your own business to earn profits, said the Government official.
