Poonch, July 13,2026- Poonch district has emerged as one of the leading performers in family welfare services, securing the second position in Jammu Division for sterilization services during the 2025–26 financial year. The district recorded 429 sterilization procedures, reflecting the Health Department’s sustained efforts to strengthen family planning and reproductive healthcare.
Health officials attributed the achievement to increased public awareness, improved accessibility to healthcare services, and the dedicated efforts of medical teams conducting family planning initiatives across urban and rural areas.
Encouraged by the strong performance, the district health administration has now set an ambitious target of securing the top position in Jammu & Kashmir during the next financial year. Officials plan to intensify awareness campaigns, expand outreach programmes, and ensure greater community participation to further improve the uptake of family planning services.
The Health Department emphasised that voluntary sterilisation remains an important component of reproductive healthcare, helping families make informed choices while contributing to better maternal and child health outcomes. The department also reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, quality, and accessible family planning services in accordance with national health guidelines.
With renewed focus and strengthened outreach efforts, Poonch aims to build on its success and further enhance healthcare delivery across the district.
