Anantnag, December 5, 2025 — A remote village in Anantnag, long considered cut off from essential services, now enjoys all-weather road connectivity thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (#PMGSY). The newly inaugurated Surplan Manzoo–Astan Chak road is already being hailed by locals as a lifeline, opening doors to healthcare, education, markets, and overall mobility.
For years, residents of the village faced difficulty reaching schools, hospitals, and marketplaces due to poor infrastructure. The new road is expected to transform daily life, facilitating faster commutes, better access to medical care, and smoother transportation of goods and agricultural produce.
Development Reaching the Last Mile
Local officials say the road reflects the administration’s ongoing commitment to last-mile development in Badalta Kashmir. By bridging connectivity gaps in remote regions, PMGSY is enabling economic opportunities and improving quality of life for villagers who were previously isolated.
“The road is more than just asphalt and concrete; it is hope, opportunity, and progress rolled into one,” said a resident. “Now our children can reach schools safely, our sick can access hospitals quickly, and we can sell our produce in markets without hassle.”
Boost to Economy and Education
The improved connectivity is also expected to encourage small businesses, boost local trade, and facilitate government service delivery. School attendance is likely to improve, while easier access to nearby towns may encourage skill development and employment opportunities for youth.
