There is no labour, so we are at the mercy of the government. We have got money for permanent dwelling. Government is doing good work, said poor residents in Shopian. Another PMAY Beneficiary Ghulam Nabi Gorsi, says, there is so much poverty. We were living in tin sheds. Winter is approaching here. Then the government gave us money to build the house. Around 2 lakh houses have been sanctioned in J&K UT. We are thankful to the Government of India and the Lieutenant Governor. In earlier political regimes, no benefits reached the poor people, observed Shopian residents. Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, Sarpanch said, Manoj Sinha has handled J&K very well and honestly too. The schemes are reaching the poor. Hilal Ahmed Jerri, ACD said that in Shopian we have a target of providing homes under PMAY to 1,596 people. Out of which, 1,417 people have taken the first instalment. For the rest of the people, since money from Central government gets directly transferred to beneficiary account, it takes some time to verify. We have got a target from the government of India that by December we have to complete the fulfillment.
