Jammu ,December 28,2025— In a major boost to pilgrimage facilities in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday announced that helicopter services to the revered Shiv Khori shrine will begin soon. The move is aimed at making the sacred site more accessible, especially for elderly pilgrims and those with mobility challenges.
The Lieutenant Governor said that the construction of required helipad infrastructure is nearing completion and the administration is working to ensure the early commencement of the service. Once operational, the helicopter facility will significantly reduce travel time and provide a safer and more comfortable journey for devotees.
Shiv Khori, one of the prominent religious destinations in the Jammu region, attracts thousands of pilgrims throughout the year. Improved air connectivity is expected to further enhance religious tourism and strengthen the region’s pilgrimage circuit.
LG Sinha emphasised that the initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to upgrade tourism and spiritual infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir. He added that improved connectivity not only benefits pilgrims but also contributes to local economic growth by creating new opportunities for employment and allied services.
Officials said that necessary safety measures and operational guidelines will be put in place before the launch of the helicopter service to ensure a smooth and secure experience for passengers.
