SRINAGAR, May 20, 2025-Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated a newly constructed Old Age Home at Pandach, Ganderbal, marking a significant step toward ensuring dignity and care for the region’s elderly population. The initiative, part of the government’s commitment to social welfare, aims to provide a supportive and compassionate environment for senior citizens.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Health Minister Sakina Itoo and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani (Sogami), highlighting the collaborative effort to address the needs of the elderly. Chief Minister Abdullah emphasized the importance of caring for senior citizens, stating, “This facility is a testament to our commitment to ensuring dignity and support for our elderly, who deserve respect and care in their golden years.” The Old Age Home is designed to offer essential services, including healthcare, accommodation, and social engagement, fostering a sense of community for its residents.
The Pandach Old Age Home is equipped with modern amenities to cater to the physical and emotional well-being of senior citizens. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance social infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, complementing projects like the Science Block foundation at GCET Safapora and awareness programs for a healthier, drug-free society under the #NashaMuktJammuKashmirAbhiyan campaign.
The facility is expected to serve as a model for future initiatives, addressing the growing need for dedicated care for the elderly in the region. Local residents and community leaders praised the government’s efforts, noting the importance of such facilities in supporting vulnerable populations.
