Jammu, March 5,2026- In a bid to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth, Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah participated in the Startup Outreach Programme under the Jammu & Kashmir Crop Innovation Platform (JKCIP) at SKUAST-Jammu today. The event brought together students, young entrepreneurs, and representatives of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
Addressing the gathering, CM Abdullah urged the youth to transition from being job-seekers to job-creators, emphasising the importance of innovation-driven enterprises and sustainable entrepreneurship. He highlighted the enormous potential in agriculture and allied sectors in Jammu & Kashmir, encouraging students and startups to explore opportunities in these areas.
Speaking on the impact of initiatives like JKCIP, the Chief Minister noted that they are fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem, supporting the growth of new enterprises, and enabling young innovators to transform ideas into viable businesses.
The interaction also included discussions with FPO representatives, focusing on how technology, modern farming practices, and entrepreneurial skills can enhance productivity, profitability, and sustainability in the region’s agricultural sector.
The programme reflects the J&K government’s commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and economic development, signalling a push towards building a self-reliant and enterprise-driven future.
