NRLM Training J&K | Pampore Mahila Sabha Becomes Catalyst for Local Development

NRLM Training J&K | Pampore Mahila Sabha Becomes Catalyst for Local Development The NRLM training programme was to create awareness among Self Help Groups and Anganwadi and Aasha Workers regarding the importance of Mahila Sabha and Bal Sabha. These are important pillars of our grassroots level planning and development. They can then raise issues of importance in the Gram Sabha which will take concrete measures to favour them. We have benefitted from these NRLM training programmes, said a Pampore female resident. We were educated but we did not go out of the house much. We did not get a platform where we could prove our capacity to people. NRLM gave us a platform and we proved our capacity through it. We created our livelihoods. Now our products are selling at airport. I got an opportunity to work there because of my local art. Selling products at the airport has benefitted us a lot. We want platforms like these and we want to show that girls are no less. We can be the support of our family. This is a good programme by the government. The money is not being wasted and it is being spent in the right direction, said the trainers. In future too, these programmes should run to create awareness at the Panchayat level and village level. We got opportunities to attend exhibitions, said female artisans. We set up our stalls and get full support from the government staff. We are grateful to NRLM for giving such a good platform and hope it continues in future too, said female artisans in Pampore district of Jammu & Kashmir.
