Banihal, Jammu and Kashmir, is set to witness an important development in the education sector with the construction of a new building for Shah Asrar Memorial Cooperative Educational Institute at Kaskoot. The administration has granted approval for the construction of the new school building at an estimated cost of Rs 2.74 crore under the UT Capex Budget Plan 2026–27. The project is expected to provide better educational facilities, improved classrooms, and a larger playground for students. Principal Khwaja Javed Ahmad expressed gratitude to the Cooperative Department for supporting the long-awaited project. He explained that the institution was established by local residents, including himself, and has remained registered with the Cooperative Department since its inception. Students also welcomed the announcement, saying that the new infrastructure would help them study in a better environment. They highlighted the difficulties caused by limited facilities while appreciating the dedication of their teachers. The construction of the new building marks a significant step towards improving educational infrastructure in Banihal. Once completed, the school is expected to offer students a more comfortable learning environment, better facilities, and greater opportunities for academic growth.
