Jammu,:With the water level of the Tawi River rising in Jammu, authorities have deployed NDRF jawans at the Tawi Bridge to ensure public safety. The continuous rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir has led to a surge in the river’s flow, raising concerns of flooding in low-lying areas.
Teams of the National Disaster Response Force are stationed at strategic points along the Tawi River in Jammu, alerting locals and urging them to avoid venturing near the riverbanks. Officials said the precautionary deployment aims to prevent any untoward incident as water discharge has increased considerably due to persistent rains.
The Jammu administration, in coordination with the NDRF and SDRF, has also kept rescue equipment ready to tackle emergencies. Residents living close to the Tawi River have been advised to stay vigilant and follow advisories issued by the disaster management authorities.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department of Jammu and Kashmir has predicted moderate to heavy showers in parts of the Jammu region, which may further increase the water level in rivers and streams. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the evolving weather situation.
