“More Than a Race: Cyclothon in Srinagar Sparks Hope, Unity & Change” A Cyclothon ‘Pedal Through Paradise” was organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Police in Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Police is a symbol of service, duty and sacrifice. Its history has been a history of sacrifice for the motherland, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. The history of Jammu and Kashmir Police is written with the blood of hardworking and brave soldiers. And by sacrificing everything, they have ensured that the roots of the nation remain strong through unity so that there is peace in Jammu and Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir touches new heights of success. In the last five years, we have achieved success in establishing peace, strengthening national unity and in creating new dreams in every section of the people, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha. The ‘Pedal Through Paradise’ race is a small but effective and strong initiative in that larger cause. Every pedal is a new effort to take youth from despair to new hope. That is why I firmly believe that this bicycle race is not an ordinary sports competition That is why I have full faith that this cycle race is not just any ordinary sporting competition but the ‘Pedal Through Paradise’ cycle race is also a unique event of the new Jammu Kashmir. Rather, this is a message that will inspire the youth to move on the track of progress by taking them away from the path of violence and drug addiction. Just take a look at the old Jammu & Kashmir six years back, you yourself will realise the difference. The new Jammu and Kashmir is one where children today have pens in their hands instead of stones. New Jammu and Kashmir is where schools and colleges are open throughout the year. The new Jammu and Kashmir is one where calendars of national and international events are published, not of bandhs and hartals. New Jammu and Kashmir is where our youth is achieving new heights in innovation. New Jammu and Kashmir is where our youth is now focusing on startups and starting their own business ventures. This is the beginning of a new era for Jammu and Kashmir and our youth. Our youth are the pioneers of this new era. To maintain the progress of development in Jammu and Kashmir, all of you have to unite and support the police against terrorism, its ecosystem and drug addiction. Our goal is terrorism free, drug free and fit Jammu Kashmir. As a senior member of the Jammu and Kashmir family, I request the youth to work together to achieve success through determination. Over the past months, major changes have begun to take place in the lives of many young people of your age.You all know that for the last three decades, Pakistani terrorists have shed the blood of innocent Kashmiris. There are many families in whose house several funerals took place simultaneously. There were many families in which only the elderly were alive and no one listened to the pleas of those families for a long time. Now that situation is beginning to change. To ensure justice to those families in Jammu and Kashmir, this initiative has been started by the civil administration and police On 13 July, the government handed over the appointment letters to the relatives of 40 such families in Baramulla who were brutally murdered by Pakistani terrorists. There were many youngsters among them who were only one or two years old at that time. They were not even able to realize the loss of their father. They not only got the appointment letter but also a powerful path to justice and change. For the last five years, the slogan in Jammu and Kashmir has been: Don’t harass the innocent and don’t spare the guilty. And it has been said repeatedly that we believe in establishing peace, not in buying peace. I would expect Jammu and Kashmir police to take a pledge to destroy the ecosystem behind every terrorist. How to bring back youth before they get radicalised. Whether they are the one providing weapons, providing finance, fixing targets, helping them, it is your primary responsibility to destroy the entire network. Not just eliminating the terrorist but destroying his entire support system along with him, I understand that liberating Jammu Kashmir from hardcore terrorism should be the resolve. The Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha thanked the youth for participating in the ‘Pedal Through Paradise’ Cyclothon and congratulated the winners and encourgaed the others to work hard next time.
